The Sea Peoples - 1200 BCE
Introduction

Geography
The Sea Peoples were a mysterious seafaring fighting force that waged war
on cities and towns along the Mediterranean Sea around 1200 BC. They were
mysterious in that there is little known about where they came from or what
happened to them after they were defeated.
During their rein, the Sea Peoples raided cities and towns in the Levant.
They were a formidable fighting force, and one that was hard to prepare for,
as they would appear from the sea without warning.
The forces of Ramses III, a famous Egyptian Pharaoh, were successful in defeating
the Sea Peoples in the battle of Xois in 1178 BC. The story goes that the Egyptian
forces rained down arrows, that were lit with fire, onto the Sea Peoples' ships.
The burning arrows ignited the ships to the point that they sank. Then, the sailors
were either killed or taken to be used as slaves.
After a hundred years of battle, the Sea People were never heard from again!
